INTRODUCTION

One of the most important moments in the promotion of the young musicians and talents are the educational and promotion opportunities available to those musicians, created by the music institutions and organizations. And not only in terms of their preparation of the future professional life, but also preparing the social and cultural background, e.g. creating audiences. The following links are part of the joint efforts of the Macedonian music organizations to create concrete, individual-oriented and at the same global approach to the subject of the promotion of young musicians and audience building. The texts are dedicated and emerged from various projects and should be considered as part of the global efforts towards the creation of effective music education policy, wider cultural education and creating equal opportunities for promotion of the young musicians, both on national and international level.

The library within starts texts extracted from the "Musicians of the new Millenium" project organized by Jeunesses Musicales Macedonia and the Music and Ballet Association of Macedonia in December 1999 under the patronage of UNESCO, plus texts extracted from the JMI News distributed from the Jeunesses Musicales International bulletin.

We expect the archives to grow in the future, thus enabling the readers to benefit from the various aspects elaborated within.

“…In the last ten years the students of the center, whose number now exceeds the number of 1.400, aged 6-18 (in all departments) won over 80 awards and prices on international competitions in various countries all over Europe, mostly in categories for winds, ballet and first of all, piano. They are the biggest credit for the positive development of the music culture in Republic of Macedonia, created by the Music and Ballet Center Skopje…”
“The talent and beyond”
Prof. Snezana Anastasova-Cadikovska, President Jeunesses Musicales Macedonia

“… Affirmation or promotion of the young talents is very important issue not only for the musicians that are treated as products, but also for the general culture within the country. There are several levels where this kind of promotion could be introduced. Thus, we can work in the frames of the local community, on the national and international level, which is the main subject of this essay. Marketing strategies for the young talent affirmation depends of the level on which we are working…”
“Promotion of young talents”

Maja Canacevic, Macedonian Philharmonics

“The emergence of mass communication called ‘Internet’ and the availability of information from all fields, including the field of music with all its aspects, has lessened to a certain extent our handicap and our ‘limited space’ phobia. The nostalgia for some past times, the times of the previous generations…”
“Presentation of young talents”

Tina Ivanova, “Utrinski vesnik” Newspaper

“…However, in this century we have encountered an explosion of information connected with the music field by broadening up the borders of the very term “music”: the conquest of the, so far unexplored and peripheral areas of non-European music, the revolutionary development of the professional European music, the invention of new technical methods and sound resources. Yet, unlike the previous epoch, the music studies’ programs today are more conservative, basing themselves on the past music…”
“The Music Education in the Future-Problems and Perspectives”

Ass. M.A. Viktorija KOLAROVSKA-GMIRJA, Faculty of Music Arts Skopje

“…I am trying to convince my pupils and students that in the newly created conditions, art is measured with demands and activities, but the prize must not be the loss of the human dignity and reliance on false values.
One of the basic functions of the education is finding a suitable place for each individual in the society…”

“Towards the New Millenium with Hopes and Apprehension”

Prof. Svetlana KOSEVA. Music School “Dobrin Petkov” Plovdiv, Bulgaria

“… At the beginning, the basic task of the fund was put on Russian Fund for Culture. At the same time with the support of the Russian association of the world funds, it emerges as a need and help in the formation of young talents in painting, dance, and poetry and above all in music. To find and care for young performers, to form a talent of them, a necessary and valuable one at this moment in our time and to help them find a stage and the audience that needs him-that is exactly what this fund’s specialty is, that is what the fund does and does it very successfully…”
“On the policy of the Fund ‘NEW NAMES’ in the area of musical education for children, concert activities, the culture of small nations”

Prof. Nina MAKAROVA, Foundation “NEW NAMES” Russia

“… In best cases, the artistic and research methods can be replaced by training, based over the indisputable principles of the “school”. The modern pedagogy remains an alchemy caldron full of noble expectations, to make gold from the lead. To be honest, the mediocrity still grows, yet, only few people need it…”
“The Music Art at the Dawn of the New Time”

Prof. Dejan MIHAJLOVICH, Faculty of Music Art, Belgrade, FR Yugoslavia

“… Thence the interest and the desire among the young musicians from various countries to come closer meet and associate with each other. However, these contacts have another, even more important dimension. Young musicians come from different upbringing, from a larger or modest musical tradition, belong to different schools, get education guided by different principles and differ in their professional standards and talent…”
“International Affirmation of Young Talents”

Prof. Fimcho MURATOVSKI

“…With respect to the number of the students in the primary musical education, we belong to undeveloped countries. Despite this statistics, this region is abundant with talented children. Guided by their dedicated teachers, they managed to make an exceptional breakthrough and incited interest not only in our country, but also attracted the attention of the European musical public…”
“Musical Education in Macedonia, Experiences and Directions for the Future”

Prof. Marija PISINOVA, President, Music and Ballet Association of Macedonia

"… Furthermore, the youngsters should also be given the opportunity of active participation in the realization of their ideas - remember, it is not important what we want, but what they need - therefore, the basic criteria for the success of those projects must be the active involvement of the youngsters on all levels - as idea developers, performers and audience. Jeunesses Musicales should become one of the facilitators of the ideas of the youth through the music…"
