INTRODUCTION     HISTORY     SUMMER MUSIC CAMP    INSTRUMENTAL COURSES     YOUTH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
ETHNO SEMINAR     INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FEMALE CHOIR     CEI TRAINING COURSE

Summer music camps are one of the most attractive forms of youth gatherings, broadening their humanistic horizons and deepening their music education and experience. Contacting new professors, the direct communication with the teachers, completely free of the usual academic surrounding, the numerous music friendships gained, the possibility of obtaining new stage routine in a completely new environment – all those things which open new perspectives, encouraging the curiosity and the creativity among the young people.

INTRODUCTION

The Summer Music Camp in Ohrid, under the auspices of Jeunesses Musicales Macedonia, was founded in 1986, comprising the session of the Youth Chamber Orchestra and the so-called "Youth Podium" - concert presentation of young music talents from the Balkan states. Over the years it has grown into a permanent part of the Ohrid Summer Festival happenings. Since 1994 the Summer Music Camp has become international, by inviting young musicians from the JM partner organisations, especially from the region of the Balkans.

Following the efforts of the youth organisations for regional co-operation in the youth field, especially following the results of the both SEE Youth Conferences held in Athens 1998, the Regional Training Courses for Youth Leaders in 1997, 98 and 1999, and the Jeunesses Musicales International initiatives for stronger co-operation between youth organisations in the field of culture in the regions of SEE and CEE in 1998-1999, JMM has developed a Summer Music Camp, including several professional music and inter-cultural seminars. The Training Course for Project Management which was before organised successfully for eleven years as a separate project apart from the Music Camp was also staged in 1999. However, the music seminars (piano and cello), together with the Youth Chamber Orchestra and the ETHNO Camp, are the core of the CEI SUMMER MUSIC CAMP introduced for the first time in 1999, while the rest of the activities are organised according to the participants’ interest.

The JMM Summer Music camp has been enlisted as part of the Jeunesses Musicales International Summer Music Camps all over the world on annual basis. For more information on those camps, please contact the JM International or the JMM National Secretariat.
